Admission Regulation - UG

 ELIGIBILITY – FOR ADMISSION IN UG PROGRAM

  1. The candidate seeking admission in Honours course must have obtained at least 45% marks in the subject concerned or allied subject at the Intermediate/ equivalent examinations. The following shall be treated as allied subjects for this purpose:

    (a) 
    Sociology and Anthropology 
    (b) Ancient Indian History, Asian Studies and History 
    (c) Rural Economics, Applied Economics and Economics 
    (d) Microbiology, Biotechnology/ Botany, Zoology/Chemistry

  2. The students passing Intermediate/ equivalent examination in Science securing 45% in aggregate shall be eligible for admission either in Arts or Commerce Honours undergraduate Program. Like-wise students who have passed Intermediate Arts or Commerce, and seek for faculty change (except Science faculty) then the case may be considered provided they have secured 45% in aggregate. A student who has passed the +2 examination of the 10+2 system or an equivalent examination in Arts or Commerce with at least 45% marks in the aggregate at the +2 examination shall be eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Hons) 1st semester provided the candidate proves an aptitude for Science by passing an entrance examination to be conducted for the said purpose by the concerned college. 

    “The students passing Intermediate/ +2 examination or equivalent examinations in Arts are allowed to opt for Honours course in any subject in Arts Faculty (Humanities & Social Science) and Intermediate/ +2 Science with Geology are allowed to opt for Honours in any subject in Science Faculty whether or not the subject was offered at Intermediate/ +2 levels, for admission in Bachelor of Arts & Science programme (Humanities, Social Science & Science) provided that they have obtained at least 45% marks in aggregate. A student who has passed the +2 examination with at least 45% in the aggregate in any faculty of studies is eligible for admission to B.A. (Hons) 1st semester in Philosophy, Anthropology, Home Science, Sociology, any language including tribal language, or any other subject in which teaching at +2 level is scanty or unavailable as a core subject. However, if such students opt for Honours course in one of the subjects offered in Intermediate/ +2 examination or equivalent examination in Arts & Science, they must have obtained at least 45% marks in the subject concerned”. This will be effective from the Academic year 2020-23 and onwards.

  3. 85% seats in all undergraduate courses shall be filled up by the students belonging in the territorial jurisdiction of N. P.  University. 

  4. Selection on the remaining 15% seats shall be made open for all i.e. N. P.  University as well as other University students on the basis of merit and out of which 5% seats will be reserved for NRI/Foreign National categories, without taking into account the caste reservation. The seats remaining vacant due to unavailability of students of particular category shall be treated as general seats. These seats shall also be filled up by the students belonging to all categories. 

    a. Thus, the name of students seeking admission should first be arranged in order of merit. The 40% name of the sanctioned number of seats be admitted irrespective of category/caste/ community. In the rest 60% of the seats following percentage of reservation be followed: 
    b. Schedule Tribe (ST) - 26% 
    c. Scheduled Caste (SC) 10% 
    d. Other Backward Caste (OBC)- 14% (BC-I – 8%; BC-II – 6%) 
    e. Economically Weaker Section (EWS)- 10% 

  5. The criteria for admission under the heads shall be the minimum pass marks at the last qualifying examination. A separate panel for SC/ST/OBC and EWS students, based on merit shall be prepared separately. In case some seats remain vacant by any of these above four categories (ST/SC/OBC/EWS) of students the vacant seats shall be filled up in the following manner – 

    a. Against the vacant seats of SC, the ST candidates be upgraded and admitted
    b. Against the vacant seats of ST, the SC candidates if available, be upgraded and admitted
    c. If no candidates of SC and ST are available for admission, the vacant seats be filled up by the students belonging to OBC in addition to their quota.
    d. If no candidates of SC, ST & OBC are available for admission, the vacant seats be filled up by the students belonging to EWS in addition to their quota.
    e. If the specific reservation quota for SC/ST/OBC/EWS remains unfilled, the admission of general category students be made in order of merit.

  6. A weightage of 10% marks shall be awarded to the employees/wards of employees of the university (Ward would mean – son/ daughter/ husband/ wife/ dependent own brother and sisters) subject to the conditions that it should not exceed 10 per cent of the total seats.

  7. A weightage 5% in total marks obtained at the last qualifying examination shall be given to all the girl students (Except in Women Colleges) including those who belong to reservation categories. However, the benefit on account of such a weightage in marks shall be restricted to 50% of the total sanctioned seats.

  8. NCC cadets holding “C” Certificate be given weightage of 5% marks over the marks obtained at their respective examination, 3% weightage on “B” Certificate in matter of admission and 1% on "A" Certificate in matter of admission.

  9. NSS volunteers holding R.D. Parade/ National award Certificate be given weightage of 5% marks over the marks obtained at their respective examination, 3% weightage on PRD – Camp N.S.S. National Level Camp, 2% weightage on Zonal level & 1% weightage on N.S.S. Special Camp Certificate (unit level)

  10. The Scouts & Guide recipient of Rastrapati Award shall be given weightage of 5% marks on total marks obtained in the last examination. A weightage of 2% marks shall be given to trained First Class third stage of Jharkhand State institute of Scout and Guide.

  11. In additional to the above 5% of seats may be allotted for outstanding sports person of all categories who represented the National/ State/ inter district School level. 

  12. 3% seats shall be reserved for differently abled persons (Persons with physical disability) on producing the certificate of 40% or more disability, issued by Civil surgeon  which will be distributed as below:
    a. 1% for persons with vision impairment,  
    b. 1% for the persons with hearing impairment 
    c. 1% persons with locomotors disability

  13. 3% seats, over and above the sanctioned strength, will be reserved for meritorious students participating in Youth Festival/ Cultural activates/Extra-curricular activity.

  14. The principal is authorized to admit the wife / son/ daughter of military personnel in addition to regular sanctioned number of sheet as compliance of Ministry of Defence Letter No 3547/AS(R)/94 dated 3/06/1994.

The principal is authorized to admit physically handicapped students in UG class in addition to regular sanctioned number of seats.
